At its April 2020 meeting, the ATS Board of Commissioners approved a new Self-Study Handbook, to take effect July 1, 2020 (coinciding with the implementation of new Standards and Policies and Procedures). This revision to the self-study handbook seeks to accomplish three goals: (1) to address the new Standards and Policies; (2) to reduce redundancies, fix errors, and reorganize information in ways that improve upon the previous handbook; and (3) to help schools engage in the self-study process (and, institutional evaluation more broadly) in ways that are more simple, systematic, and sustained and in ways that pay greater attention to the diverse contexts of our schools.

As noted in the Implementation Procedures, all schools hosting visits in fall 2020 and after will be expected to follow the chapter on visits from the new Handbook (particularly regarding visit logistics and materials to be available to evaluation committees , both of which will also be described later in this online site), and any school writing to the new Standards will be expected to follow the new handbook in its entirety.
